Skep Doc is 100% correct. A medicine that is 100% effective in growing hair does not exist. Propecia does work for some men and men only, it can cause major birth defects in women. If you try some of the hyped products on the market like scalp-med you will find it to be way over priced rogaine, and at best will provide limited results. Finasteride (Propecia) does work in some men, not all, and you do need a prescription from a physician for that.

However, there is a fairly new technique one of my coworkers is using. In hair transplant surgery, a dermatologist plucks hair from his beard or mustache and implants it in the scalp, creating a totally natural and lasting head of hair. This is still cutting-edge, so it's extremely expensive. I believe my coworker said it would have cost $20k if the doctor hadn't been given a federal grant.
There are several natural things that you can take - Hair Effects and Hair, Skin and Nails by Obvious are good, but I don't think that you will find anything that is 100% effective for everybody.
