Generic Propecia (finasteride) is also ok. I use it with same results, and unfortunately same sides(a bit dry feeling in the scalp) as brand propecia. I have heard several ideas. The most promising is Saw Palmetto. It is an herb some guys use to help their prostate, and some swear it is as powerful as propecia for regrowing hair and avoiding additional hair loss. You can buy the capsules at health food stores.
